fatreg.com - an apology

Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed that there have been no updates to the site for some months. Unfortunately, my hard drive failed, taking with it the site, all my work, and (even more importantly to me) over three years' worth of photographs... nothing was recoverable. I've had rather a lot of work to do in catching up as a result, and fatreg.com has, unfortunately, had to take a back seat.

I'm also not going to Reading this year... the first time I've been unable to since I first went way back in 1983. Work commitments have got in the way for the first time.

If you've been this year, please post your thoughts or a review in the forum (you don't have to register).

Normal service is about to be resumed, and I hope to be back at the Festival next summer.

Anvil for Glastonbury?

Legendary metal band Anvil are potentially being lined up to play Glastonbury this summer. The band whose biopic 'Anvil! The Story of Anvil' has won awards at film festivals around the globe are the subject of a petition to see them playing the festival. Vote for them by clicking HERE. It's about time Glastonbury got wise to putting some metal bands on.

Basement Jaxx for Isle of Wight

Basement Jaxx are the first confirmed act for next summer's Isle of Wight Festival (12-14th June). They will play second on the bill on the Friday.

Reformed Blur to perform in Hyde Park

Blur will play a live show in Hyde Park in Summer 2009.
Graham Coxon will join Alex James, Dave Rowntree and Damon Albarn onstage for this first time since their Royal Festival Hall performance in 2000.
The concert will take place at London's Hyde Park on Friday 3rd July 2009, and tickets will be on general sale from 9am Friday 12th December 2008 at www.livenation.co.uk.
All tickets are £45.00, are limited to six per person, and subject to a booking fee.
Not sure if this is part of the O2 Wireless Festival, which last year was three days, but this year's festival is listed as being Sat 4th July and Sunday 5th July.

Isle of Wight 2009 tickets on sale

Tickets for next year's Isle of Wight Festival, which takes place on 12th-14th June are on sale now. Adult tickets, including camping are £140. There's no news yet as to who's playing, though. For further info or to order, see www.isleofwightfestival.com/

Phoenix 94 bootleg online

A radio recording of three bands live at the 1994 Phoenix Festival is available to download. It's a big file (160Mb) and contains tracks by three bands: Goats (no, I don't know them, either), Carter USM and The Wonderstuff (who were playing their farewell show at the festival). Word reviews Reading

The latest issue of Word (on sale now) has a half-page review of Reading (plus some glaring historical inaccuracies concerning the 1986 line-up...). Additionally, the magazine contains a reprint of John Peel's review of the 1977 festival, which is taken from a forthcoming book of the great man's writings for various magazines, and consists mostly of his recollections from the bar, rather than actually seeing many bands. Sounds like a great way to experience the festival to me...
